Line-X Finish
Line-X is a spray-on truck bedliner material that we can apply to all of the wood components. We still use White Oak, prime the wood, and then spray on the Line-X product for a bomb-proof finish.
Line-X is an advanced polyethylene formulation that solves various extreme impact, corrosion and abrasion problems. The material molds precisely to every contour permanently bonding to the wood for a lifetime finish. Yes, it is repairable. Any Line-X dealer can seamlessly repair any surface to like new in minutes. This product is great! When a bright finish doesn't fit your program, Line-X is the answer and it doesn't cost extra!
Line-X can also be used to renew the finish of traditional oil finished wood components on your dory. Even after years of use and abuse the wood can be sanded and Line-X can be sprayed on part or all of the wood. You could Line-X some parts or components and bright finish others.
Line-X is also available in other colors than the black (see above picture). However, black is the only color that Line-X will guarantee not to fade. The other colors they do offer are more expensive and also may fade in as little as 1 to 2 years. So if you want a custom colored Line-X, we can do it, but it will cost more and you will need to invest in a quality boat cover too. Another good option is to prime & paint the Line-X to achieve the desired color. It looks great, it's cheaper than colored Line-X, it's easy to touch-up and easy to change the color. The only possible drawback to this method is that the paint only adheres reasonably well to the Line-X, but touch-up is quick & easy. Because of the highly textured finish, it is impossible to tell where you touched up the paint.
